Altar Cloths
Although not absolutely essential, an altar cloth is a desirable element of any set of ritual implements. Particularly if the table which serves as the altar is plain or prosaic, the altar cloth helps to dress it up and reinforce the sense of being in sacred space. Even if one is using an ornate altar table designed particularly for such service, the altar cloth also serves a practical purpose of protecting the surface from wear and abrasion as the various ritual implements are placed upon it and removed.
In addition to their use in public and private rituals, such cloths are also useful for tarot reading. Many tarot readers find it a useful aid to concentration to do one's spreads upon a special cloth, as it separates the process from the mundane associations evoked by a more mundane surface.
Altar Tarot Cloth: Triple Goddess with Pentagram
This black altar cloth features the Triple Goddess symbol (the waxing crescent of the Maid, the full moon of the Mother, and the waning crescent of the Crone) with the pentagram set within the full moon, surrounded by a delicate Celtic tracery design.
Celtic Moon Altar Cloth/Scarves
This black altar cloth is ornamented in each of its for corners with an elaborate Celtic tracery in which is set a silver crescent moon and five-pointed star. It will be particularly appropriate for rituals conducted right before or after the new moon.
Greenman Altar/Tarot Cloth
The Greenman is one of the many symbols of the richness of the verdant land, particularly that part of Mother Earth which remains wild and dangerous rather than having been domesticated to the growing of crops. This altar cloth will be particularly appropriate to spring and summer rituals.
